Week of 5/18-5/22: Kimochis are emotions!

We learned a lot about emotions this year in Wellness with Kimochis. For our last lesson, we'll do a quick review and read a book about all kinds of different feelings! You can also click here to download a Kimochis coloring book to complete over the summer. Thanks for a great year, BRCS! I hope your summer is full of positive feelings. :)

Week of 5/11-5/16: Communication keys review

We're starting to wrap up for the year- and it's a perfect time to review our Keys to Communication! Watch the video and then download your own Kimochis posters as a reminder to use these skills at home.

Week of 5/4-5/9: Hopeful thinking

Summer is getting closer, and there are so many things to be hopeful for! This week we are learning about hopeful thinking and how to handle disappointment when things don't go our way.
After the video, fill out this worksheet with your hopeful thoughts for the week, this summer, and next school year! Remember the coping skills we've talked about this year, and decide how you'll choose to handle disappointment (but I hope you don't have to!).

Week of 4/27-5/1: Kindness with Ms. Brooke

Kindness is one of the core values at our school. Spreading kindness can help us to connect with others and can even help us to reduce our own uncomfortable emotions! This is Ms. Brooke's last week helping out at BRCS, and she put together a wonderful lesson for our students about kindness as a send off. Watch the video below to learn more about kindness. :)
When you're done, follow this link to download a kindness worksheet. How will you spread kindness today?

Week of 4/20-4/24: Personal Space & Socal Distancing

There are two videos this week! The first video is a lesson on personal space and social distancing from Ms. Harris. The second video is a Kimochi's song about Huggtopus and learning how to look for clues from others before entering their personal bubble.

After you've watched the videos, you can fill out this Personal Spaceship worksheet to decide when you might use personal space, social space, and social distancing. Make sure to draw a picture of yourself in the spaceship window! ;)

Week of 4/13-4/17: Cranky!

A lot has changed lately, and sometimes we don't get to do things the way we would like. Feeling "stuck" can make us cranky, and sometimes cranky is contagious! Watch this video to hear a story about a time Cat got cranky, and what happened next...

After you've watched the video, click here for a copy of the Cranky Toolbox worksheet. Remember- being kind during cranky moments shows real character!

WEEK of 4/6-4/10: CYBERbullying prevention, plus mindfulness with Ms. Brooke!

Welcome back from spring break, Bear River Bears! Since many students are spending more time than ever on the internet, Ms. Harris and the Kimochis are going to be talking about cyberbullying. Brainpop has great Internet Safety video that I hope you'll check out. When you're done watching the video, you can also print, color, and sign the Kimochis pledge below!

BONUS LESSON:

Ms. Brooke has prepared a kid-friendly mindfulness lesson for those students who might need a little extra help with stress or worry this week. Mindfulness is a great Wellness habit that you can practice at home!

Week of 3/23-3/27: Worry

Worry is a set of uncomfortable feelings and thoughts that make us feel stuck. To learn more about Worry, watch the video below!
