This month, Ms. Harris and the School Support Team provided a parent training on promoting study skills in home environments (for both our online learners and any students who have regularly assigned homework!). It has been challenging for some families to promote focus, engagement, and work completion during online learning. It's difficult for children to sit and watch Zoom lessons all day, so that's natural! But for those of you with students who ARE attending in person, creating a consistent homework routine can also be a challenge, especially as the workload increases in middle school. This presentation provides tips for creating at-home learning expectations, providing effective awards, designing an optimal "study space", and troubleshooting other barriers to student success. We only cover the *basics* in this 30 minute training, but for more elaboration or individualized support, please don't hesitate to reach out! PROMOTING STUDY SKILLS AT HOME: VIDEO There were several handouts referenced in the presentation that our SST compiled. You can find those resources at this link. Thank you to the families that attended! Look out for another training in April or May. :)
