This year, the Wellness program decided to pilot a HOPE Squad in our middle school. HOPE Squads are made up of students who are identified by peers as being kind, good listeners, and always willing to help someone in need. The 8 participants from grades 6-8 joined Ms. Harris throughout the year for targeted lessons on: - Learning the warning signs of suicide and depression - Learning how to ask difficult questions to friends - Setting healthy boundaries - Self-care practices Besides being peer mentors, one responsibility of HOPE Squad members is to plan a week of events promoting mental health awareness and positive messages of hope across the school. The week's events are designed to be a fun and positive way for students to spread HOPE- starting with the Wall of Hope that began on Monday! We loved walking by and reading all of the inspiring messages. The Virtual Talent Show starts Friday and will be accessible through the end of the year. You can view it at home by logging into your child's school email address and following the Canvas link to HOPE Week- please let us know if you are having difficulty accessing it!
THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO MADE HOPE WEEK A SUCCESS! I HOPE ALL OF OUR BRCS FAMILIES HAVE A GREAT SUMMER! -Ms. Harris
